Hey Paula, You need to seriously consider a career in writing about humorous daily living. You have that Erma Bombeck flavor to your postings. I am serious...think about it! Here is a site dedicated to Erma: http://www.ermamuseum.org Lisa
Good Morning World! What a great day for Eskimos. Here in Raleigh, NC it is chilly. I don't have it as bad as my sister in Iowa as she has all that snow. But when you are used to North Carolina beach weather this takes some getting used to. I used to live in Wilmington where snow days where headline events. When I lived in the Midwest it was not such a big deal. Now I remember why I chose the South to live! That was on the "pro" side of my list of reasons to move to NC. I do not miss the roads covered with ice to the point you have to walk on the grass to stay afoot. Crunch, crunch, crunch my shoes would go. And when you got to town you had to find things to hold on to to make it across sidewalks and streets. Needless to say one of the reasons I kept a well stocked cupboard and freezer. We could live on soup and did some Winters. In fact one winter in particular I ate so much soup I did not gain any winter weight! In my other life I used to can alot and when we had bumper crops I canned so much we could literally live off the land. Nothing tastes as good as a pot of chili with home canned tomatos. Well now that I have made you hungry I guess I will go cook breakfast. Have a super great day and don't freeze! Hot cocoa time. Lisa

Thanks for the story. I was a clown at one time in my history many moons ago. Promise - I was a nice one :-) Coulrophobia refers to an abnormal and persistent fear of clowns. (credit to: http://psychology.about.com/cs/glossaries/g/Coulrophobia.htm ) I read the REAL Grimms Fairy Tales as a child...and acted them out. Today that would be the Dark Side of the Moon...woooooooooooooo Lisa

I just thought I'd post a link to a short story. It's definitely pretty dark and twisted, but I love the terse narration and the artwork, too. It's called "A Cotton Candy Autopsy," written by Dave Louapre, from a series called Beautiful Stories for Ugly Children. Best viewed at 1024 x 768 because it is in .jpg format scanned directly from the book, and the pictures are quite a bit larger than 800 x 600.

PS - You might not want to read it if you have that fear of clowns. It's a story about clowns. Does anyone know what that phobia is called?

I've just gotten back from work, so here's a quote about work I heard on the show Malcolm in the Middle.

"It pays what every other job pays: less than what you're worth but just enough to keep you crawling back for more."

Anyone else miss being 8?

- Robert
Well, I am going to see if this works this time. The technology of today has not worked yet for me, so we'll see if the 90th time is a charm!

A neat quote I found yesterday that struck home:

"You have it easily in your power to increase the sum total of this world's happiness now. How? By giving a few words of sincere appreciation to someone who is lonely or discouraged. Perhaps you will forget tomorrow the kind words you say today, but the recipient may cherish them over a lifetime."

Dale Carnegie

Have a great day!

"Snowed in in Iowa"

"Here it is February, the month the world celebrates love, and the only man in my life is my tax preparer! Something's gotta give!"

"Valentine's Day" - aka - "Single Awareness Day"

Valentine's Day - "Hug a Chocolate Heart Day and Care Less About the Calories"

"To make sure I got a Valentine's card I sent one to myself. It made my day!"

"Chocolate - The Single Woman's Best Friend"

"When my ex told me he was giving me something interesting, shocking and red on Valentine's Eve, I didn't know it was going to be the checkbook!" from Paula
